(More customer reviews)This pedal is well built for the price - for any price at that! Yes it is plastic but the design and the type of plastic make it seem very sturdy. My son has taken it on many gigs with him without fail. He uses it with his practice amp, which has limited effects to help get the sound he wants. The overdrive has just enough "edge and bite" without going into total distortion. It gives you the sound you need to cut through with a lot of power behind you. I don't know how it would survive a hard road life, but for an amateur player who does not have a fortune to pay for a effects pedal this is just right. Don't pay $50 - $100 for a different brand when this will work just as well for most.

History was made in 1975 when a mom and pop store in California commissioned the production of just 200 of what is perhaps the best overdrive effect ever. Unlike any other device, that pedal authentically simulated the breakup that occurs when a tube amp is run at full volume. You will occasionally see an original in the stage rig of a major artist. If you could find an original offered for sale, best to sit down before inquiring about the price. Danelectro puts this classic effect in your hands...without damage to your financial portfolio.
